Natalie led Terence to a table, leaving Marie standing there, grinding her teeth in frustration.
What did Natalie mean by that? Was she trying to jinx their banquet?
That was impossible. They had planned everything meticulously, and the security was tight. Even if she hired someone to cause a scene, they had measures in place to maintain order.
Marie refused to believe Natalie had the power to ruin their evening.
The banquet began, and the host took the stage to welcome the guests.
"And now, let's welcome the president of the Ward Group, Mr. Richard Ward, to say a few words for us."
Richard went on stage. "Thank you all for attending the Ward Group's banquet tonight. This evening is held in honor of my daughter, Marie."
"I've spent most of my life in the business world, and now, my daughter is ready to lead the Ward Group. Therefore, I have decided to hand the company over to her. From this day forward, she will be the president of the Ward Group. Now, let's have my daughter, Marie, come up and say a few words."
Marie walked onto the stage and took the microphone. "Standing here today, I first want to thank my father, Richard, and my mother, Elaine. They have given me endless love my entire life. I've always felt special because my parents love me so dearly. They've always treated me like a princess."
As Marie spoke, she deliberately looked at Natalie. She wanted Natalie to know just how much her parents adored her. So what if Natalie knew she was a Ward by birth?
Could she ever replace her? Could she ever be standing on this stage? Impossible! It was nothing but a foolish fantasy.
Listening to Marie's speech, Natalie's gaze turned icy.
