"The Lockwood family doesn't tolerate bullies," Terence said. "I'm just giving you a friendly warning. Don't lay a hand on Natalie. Otherwise, one day, even if you get on your knees and beg her to acknowledge you, she won't forgive you."
Hearing Terence's words, Elaine Ward laughed out loud.
"Me? Beg Natalie?" she said angrily. "That's ridiculous. She's responsible for my son's death and she's tormented my daughter. The fact that I haven't destroyed her is a kindness. Apologize to her? I'm not senile!"
Richard said coldly, "Go print another copy of the inheritance agreement. In fact, print a thousand copies. Let Natalie and Mr. Lockwood tear them up to their hearts' content."
Marie looked at Natalie smugly. "Did you hear that, Natalie? My father said to print a thousand copies for you to tear. I'm afraid Mr. Lockwood can't help you much here. Let's see how many hands you have. You're not leaving until you've torn up every single one."
Marie was ecstatic, her laughter filled with the arrogance of someone who believed everything was under her control.
"Once you sign the agreement, you'll officially be the heir to the Ward Group. I should congratulate you properly. I even brought you a gift."
"A gift?" Marie scoffed. "What kind of gift could a pauper like you possibly give me? That's hilarious!"
Just then, Natalie took out a digital recorder. When she pressed the play button, a woman's voice filled the room.
"My child, listen to me. You are my daughter. The year I gave birth to you, your father found out you were a girl and started cursing, calling you a worthless burden. He even said he was going to sell you.
I knew what he was like, and I was terrified he would hurt you, or worse, sell you.
