Terence's eyes turned icy, but Natalie quickly placed a hand on his arm to stop him.
She looked at Terence, silently telling him she could handle it.
Then, Natalie turned back to Elaine. "Elaine, your son Marcus's accident happened because Marie had Hanley send him a bouquet of flowers. That was my mistake. I never imagined that Marie would have tampered with those flowers, leading to your son's accident!"
Elaine exploded.
"Natalie, you're trying to pin this on my daughter again! You've already framed her once, claiming she caused my son's car crash. But my son woke up! He said his sister didn't do it!
Everyone heard him! Why do you keep trying to drag Marie's name through the mud? Again and again... when will you ever stop?"
Richard was just as furious. "Natalie, how can you cook up another lie like this to frame my daughter? I know you want to harm her because of what happened with Darren. We fell for your act before, but we won't be fooled again. My son said his sister didn't do it. You won't be able to pin this on her!"
Marie was a smooth talker, and Marcus's words upon waking—"not his sister"—had further convinced the Wards that Marie had nothing to do with the accident. They believed she wasn't trying to harm her own brother for the inheritance.
Facing their overwhelming rage, Natalie remained calm and composed. "You're right. When Marcus woke up, he did say it wasn't his sister. But what he meant was not... that Marie didn't harm him. He meant that Marie is not his sister at all!"
The Wards were stunned. Then, Elaine became hysterical. "Natalie, how dare you say Marie isn't our daughter! How can you even say something like that? Is there a bigger lie you can invent just to slander her? You're shameless!"
