At that, Victoria added, “That’s wonderful. Hanley has been teased so much because of the Cross Group’s bankruptcy. He hasn’t even wanted to go to kindergarten these past few days. Now that he has the Ward Group supporting him, let’s see who dares to bully him.”
Marie smiled a fake smile. Just then, Victoria’s expression shifted, her eyes glinting with calculation.
“Marie, you know, living in a hotel isn’t a long-term solution for us. Darren is so busy trying to revive the Cross Group that he’s rarely at the hotel. If something were to happen to the two of us, a grandmother and her grandson, there’d be no one to help. What do you think about us staying at your family’s mansion for a while?”
Marie was filled with contempt. Victoria was a real schemer and couldn't even wait.
She knew perfectly well about Victoria’s plan to take over everything now that Marcus was gone.
Did she really think Marie was a fool?
Still, if they wanted to move in, let them. The Ward family had plenty of rooms.
She could just treat them like two dogs she was keeping.
More importantly, it would let Natalie see her own son living in the Ward family home, all thanks to betraying her.
That would surely crush her!
“You’re right, Mom. It’s my fault. I’ve been so busy with the Ward Group, taking care of my parents, and preparing for my brother’s funeral that I forgot about you both. An old woman and a young child living in a hotel really isn’t safe. You should move into the Ward family home today.”
Victoria was thrilled at the prospect of moving into the Ward mansion. The first step in her takeover was complete.
“Marie, I knew you genuinely cared about us. Once Darren gets the Cross Group back on its feet, we’ll move out. We won’t trouble you forever.”
Marie found it laughable. She knew exactly what Victoria was hiding. She was probably hoping that her parents would die of grief, following Marcus to the grave, so she could become the mistress of the Ward mansion.
