Her words stunned Terence.

He realized that from the moment his grandmother saw Simon, she had believed his story. She was just putting on a brave face.

For him, and for the entire Lockwood family, she was forcing herself to be strong.

"Grandma, you've been wronged."

She remembered her son crying for his father as a child, and how the man hadn't even shown his face when their son passed away.

Grace Lockwood's heart ached with a pain as sharp as a knife. It made her want to carve him up, piece by piece.

Natalie brought the old woman a bowl of herbal soup.

"Grandma, please drink this. We're worried your body won't be able to take the strain."

What words of comfort could she possibly offer? The situation was just too monstrous. She couldn't believe something like this could even happen.

She was just worried that the old woman's health would fail.

"Natalie, I know you care about me. I won't die until I've seen that monster!"

"Grandma, please drink the soup and get some rest."

Natalie helped the old woman finish her soup and made sure she was resting before she and Terence left the room.

They walked along the garden path of the Cross estate.

"Natalie, thank you for the warning yesterday," Terence said. "If I hadn't been able to produce that evidence in the meeting room, things would have gotten ugly. For him to show up so brazenly, he must have already done his homework and felt certain the board would vote for him."

"I only gave you a reminder. You were the one who found the evidence. But is he really your grandfather's grandson? If that's true, your grandmother's situation is just too pitiful."
