"That's enough. Shut up!"
Darren was in a terrible mood, and Marie wouldn't stop chattering in his ear.
Yelled at by Darren again, Marie was annoyed. But as long as he knew that his mother's condition was Natalie's fault, that was all that mattered.
Just then, a Cross family servant brought Hanley over.
"Daddy, I heard Grandma was taken to the hospital. How is she?"
"Who told you to come here? You should have just waited at home."
"Daddy, I couldn't find you at home. Helena said Grandma was in the hospital, so I had her bring me. How is Grandma now?"
Victoria had always doted on Hanley, so they were very close. As soon as he heard Victoria had been taken to the hospital, he insisted the servant bring him.
Marie knelt down and said to Hanley, "Hanley, you're such a good boy, so worried about your grandma. All the love she's shown you was worth it. But you need to prepare yourself. I'm afraid your grandma is not doing well."
Darren said angrily, "Why are you telling a child that?"
"I'm just helping him prepare. Hanley, it was all your mommy's fault. When your grandma collapsed, if she had been willing to save her, your grandma wouldn't be hanging on by a thread right now. I think even if she's lucky enough to survive, she'll probably be paralyzed for the rest of her life."
Hanley was stunned. He couldn't imagine this had anything to do with his mommy.
His mommy was the kindest person he knew. How could she see his grandma collapse and not save her?
