Natalie looked at Liana gently. “I’m your tutor. Unless you don’t need me anymore, why would I ever leave you?”
She was still avoiding the subject of Terence’s feelings for her. He understood, but he wasn’t going to give up. With one adult and two kids on his side, how could he possibly lose to someone else?
“I knew he was lying,” Natalie said. “He and Marie are already planning their wedding. Still, I don’t want you to bankrupt the Cross Group because of me.”
“Are you pleading for him?”
Natalie shook her head. “I’m not pleading for him. I’ve moved on, and I don’t want revenge. I just want us to go our separate ways. After all, my son is still with him. If the Cross Group goes bankrupt, he’ll have a very hard time.”
Hanley wanted Marie to be his mother, so let him have his wish.
“If you want to fight for custody, I’ll help you.”
“I don’t want to force him to be with me. I just want him to live the life he wants. I brought him into this world, and that’s enough for me. As for the future, whatever happens, happens.”
“I understand. I’ll let the Cross Group off the hook.”
Natalie smiled. “Thank you.”
Liana took Natalie’s hand, and Lucas said cheerfully, “Let’s go home!”

Victoria arrived at the Ward residence, grumbling under her breath.
She hadn’t wanted to come, but when she went to Marie’s room and saw that all the jewelry and designer bags were gone, she almost fainted.
