It was true that people who could make others feel good were always pleasant to be around.
Suddenly, Darren's expression soured. He'd walked right into a trap.
Terence was using him, and all this praise for Natalie was working against him.
"That's not what I meant. I..."
Before Darren could finish, Terence cut him off.
"No one here cares what you mean. You should go get some sleep."
Darren was so choked with anger his face turned pale, but Natalie's gaze remained fixed on Terence's legs, as if she were contemplating his condition, not even glancing at Darren's injury.
His ear was bleeding!
And Terence was just faking it!
"Natalie, listen to me," Darren tried to explain his feelings. "I admit, I never realized how exceptional you were before. But now, after seeing your resilience and intelligence during the competition, I've..."
He had always seen her as an ordinary housewife, but watching her on that stage, so tough and brilliant, had changed everything. He was deeply captivated by her.
As Darren spoke, Natalie acted as if she hadn't heard a word. She turned back to Terence, squatting down to ask, "I massaged your legs earlier. Are they still itchy?"
Darren was speechless.
He had mustered all his courage to express his feelings, only to be ignored in favor of Terence's legs?
Terence, however, was secretly delighted that Natalie was ignoring Darren.
"Ms. Verdan, if it's convenient for you, could you please come back to the Lockwood estate to apply some medication for me?"
