After receiving treatment, Hanley was out of danger, but he still felt miserable.
He clutched Natalie’s hand tightly. “Mommy, don’t leave me. Hanley feels awful.”
“If you knew you’d feel awful, why did you eat them?”
Hanley replied, “Because I knew Mommy cares about me. If I got sick, Mommy would stay with me.”
His words left a bitter taste in Natalie’s mouth.
His small hand held hers firmly. Seeing this, Darren felt a sense of relief. He knew she couldn’t leave now.

At the Lockwood estate, Old Mrs. Lockwood had instructed the staff to prepare a lavish feast.
“Great-grandma, this looks amazing today!”
“Mother, did you plan all these dishes? They look wonderful.”
“I did. But why isn’t our guest here yet?”
“She should be here soon. They’ve already returned.”
Everyone in the Lockwood family assumed Natalie was on her way. But by the time the meal was ready, she still hadn’t appeared.
Old Mrs. Lockwood frowned. “Why hasn’t she come? Send someone to get her.”
Mrs. Lockwood was also puzzled. Weren’t they all supposed to have come back together? Why was she so late?
Terence wasn’t there either. What were those two doing, skipping a meal like this?
“Mother, I’ll have a servant go get them again.”
Just then, Terence arrived.
Mrs. Lockwood rushed over. “Terence, why are you alone? Where’s Natalie?”
