Shirley had only taken a few steps when she heard the sound of shattering glass coming from behind her, accompanied by the crisp sound of glass shards hitting the floor.
She paused, feeling a pang of pain in her heart.
"If you dare to leave through this door today, never come back," Skyler said, calmly wiping the glass shards from his hand with a tissue, which quickly became stained red. Yet he seemed unaffected by the pain, not even furrowing his brows.
Shirley stood there, torn and indecisive. Suddenly, her phone chimed with a new message notification. She held her phone but had no interest in checking the message.
After a long struggle, Shirley gripped her bag's handle, almost tearing the leather. She thought about Skyler and Sofia's upcoming wedding, as well as Sofia's pregnancy. They appeared to be a perfect match, with equal social standing.
A bitter smile appeared on Shirley's lips. "Alright." She replied, walked to the door, opened it, and decisively left.
As soon as Shirley closed the door, a loud bang echoed from the room, followed by the sound of plates, dishes, and cups shattering on the floor.
Shirley stood at the door. Upon hearing the commotion inside, she could tell how furious the person in the room was.
But he already has a child with Sofia, so what reason does he have to be angry? No, it is all his fault.
Shirley pulled her scarf up to cover the scar on her face and headed straight for the elevator.
There were two elevators. One was on the first floor, and the other stopped on the tenth. She stood outside the elevator, her heart in turmoil, and subconsciously opened the message on her phone.
Shirley pushed the door open and walked in. The living room was a mess, with food and soup mixed on the floor, resembling a garbage dump.
But she didn't care about that. Her gaze fell on Skyler, and she gathered her courage to ask, "Did you call off your engagement with Sofia?"
As she asked the question, Shirley nervously clutched her sleeve, subconsciously holding her breath, waiting for Skyler's answer.
Hearing her voice, Skyler stiffened, only then realizing that the person who had returned was Shirley. He turned around slowly, looking at Shirley standing a few meters away, a cold smile appearing on his lips. "What does it have to do with you?"
Shirley's heart sank, his words pushing her into the abyss, the faint smile on her face gradually fading away. She was left speechless.
