Breaking Free, Loving Again -The Flash Marriage with Mr. CEO novel Chapter 701

Chapter 701: She won’t be coming back.

For a moment, Selene couldn’t breathe. Her chest heaved as she stared at him, vision stinging with hot tears she refused to shed. Her nails dug into her palms.

Although she was scared, she didn’t want to back down.

Not today.

She was terrified—terrified by how he hadn’t even flinched before hurling that paperweight in her direction. Terrified by the lack of hesitation or even the faintest flicker of concern in his gaze when he treated her that way.

And yet, stubbornly, she refused to believe he would harm her.

"W-Why should I watch my words, Aiden?" she asked, her voice trembling as though she was not ready to accept that he would willingly treat her this way. "Why should I watch my words when she never watched her actions? How dare she make you do something like that?"

"Who said she asked me to do it?" His tone was still cold as ice.

Selene let out a sharp, mocking laugh, though her composure cracked around the edges. "Heh, she didn’t? Then why else would you pull something like that against me?"

Aiden’s eyes met hers without wavering. "Because I am not blind, Selene. I can see and tell what you are up to."

Her face paled. "What do you mean? What did I do?"

Her nails bit deeper into her palms, unease churning in her chest. She knew the risks of playing her game, but she never expected Aiden to catch on. She had been careful—meticulous—in her conversations with Arwen. And surely Arwen wouldn’t...

Her lips trembled. Did she?

That b*tch.

"I don’t owe you an explanation," Aiden said flatly, massaging his temple. His headache worsened with every passing second. "Selene, once, you helped me when I was desperate. Because of that, I’ve shown you leniency. But don’t test my patience when it comes to her."

Selene’s heart twisted at the softness with which he spoke of Arwen. She wanted that for herself, but he never cared to offer that to her. Why?

She gritted her teeth. "Aiden, how could you? Is she really worth such devotion? She doesn’t deserve you."

Aiden remained silent. Not because her words carried any weight—but because she wasn’t worth the effort of explaining what he shared with Arwen.

"I know she’s your wife," Selene pressed on, pointing at herself with desperation. "But I... I love you, Aiden. I always have. No one could love you more than me. Why can’t you see it? Why do you have to choose her when you could have me? Why? Can she even compare to me?"

"She can’t," Aiden said instantly, his voice firm and eyes unwavering.

For a brief moment, hope flickered in Selene’s chest. But it died the very next second.

"She can’t compare to you," he continued, shaking his head. "She can’t compare to anyone. Because she is incomparable. Too precious in my heart to be measured against anyone in this world."

Selene staggered back, stunned. "You—"

"I’ve already made arrangements for you," Aiden cut her off. "Leave, and you won’t suffer any loss. Not in life, not in career."

His tone was steady, final.

Her heart turned to ice at his brutal rejection. She swallowed the lump in her throat and forced a smile. "Fine," she said after a long silence. "I will leave and return to New York."

Aiden’s eyes remained cold.
