Chapter 700: Watch your words, Selene

The car pulled up right outside the Winslow Residence.

"Sir, we have arrived," Neil informed, glancing at Aiden through the rear-view mirror.

Aiden was sitting behind with his head leaned back and eyes closed. At Neil’s words, his brows drew together slightly, as though discomfort pressed on him even in rest. Slowly, he opened his eyes, letting them adjust before shifting his gaze outside.

"Should I inform Mr. Jones to call the doctor?" Neil asked cautiously, his tone laced with concern.

However, Aiden simply dismissed it. "There is no need. It will be fine after taking the medicine."

And with that, his hands moved to the door handle, unlocking it before stepping out of the car.

As he entered the house, Mr. Jones was already waiting. "Sir, you are back," he greeted, moving forward with practiced ease to take Aiden’s jacket.

Aiden gave a soft hum of acknowledgement before asking his usual question, "Has Moon returned?"

"No, sir," Mr. Jones replied respectfully. "Madam is not yet home. Would you like me to prepare anything for you?"

Aiden checked the time on his watch. It was still early in the evening. He assumed Arwen might be on her way back. His lips pressed into a thin line as he paused, considering, then finally said, "Bring me a glass of water and ibuprofen. I will be in the study."

Mr. Jones’s brows furrowed a little in concern, but he didn’t ask anything. Nodding, he affirmed. "Right away, sir."

Usually, Aiden would wait for Arwen in the living hall itself, but he remembered he had a few things to check. So, he decided to go to the study instead.

As he sat behind his desk, the knock at the door came. "Come in," he said, and Mr. Jones quickly walked in with a tray in his hand.

He gave the medicine and waited until Aiden had them.

"Sir, should I call Dr. Clark?"

Aiden shook his head. "There is no need. I still have some work to do. You can leave first."

Mr. Jones nodded and then left.

Aiden also went to complete the work that was pending. Halfway through it, he reached out to pinch the space between his eyebrows. He thought the medicine would ease the pain, but it seemed that only a good sleep would help.

With that, though, he leaned back on the chair, closing his eyes to rest. But just after a few seconds, he heard someone entering the room.

He opened his eyes to look, and the moment he saw Selene, the knit between his brows deepened. "What are you doing here, Selene?"

Selene didn’t like the cold tone with which he began their conversation. But she decided to ignore it. Smiling, she walked in. "I heard you were here. So ... I came."
