She never seemed to realize things in the moment.
It was only after everything was spelled out for her that she finally caught on.
Thinking of this, Edwin felt helpless.
He had stayed by her side for so many years, yet she kept chasing after Lucas’ footsteps.
He was always behind her, looking at her back.
He might have crossed paths with her even more often than Lucas did.
Even so, Yvonne never stopped chasing after Lucas, always following behind him.
She never once turned back to look at him.
When he thought about that, Edwin couldn’t help feeling a little pathetic.
Why had he fallen so hard for Yvonne in the first place?
When Yvonne almost finished eating, Edwin finally took out his phone and pulled up the day’s news for her.
“This is what’s trending online today. Take a look.”
Seeing the phone he handed over, Yvonne felt a wave of unease.
She couldn’t explain why, but she instinctively didn’t want to take it.
“What are they saying online?”
Edwin stayed calm. “You can read it yourself.”
Since he clearly didn’t want to explain, Yvonne didn’t press him.
She took the phone, and the moment she saw the words “official announcement,” her heart jumped into her throat.
Her expression tightened at once as she grabbed the phone in a panic, reading every word carefully.
