Atticus stared at the crimson map hovering in the sky with a cold gaze.
"The entire layer?" he asked.
"The entire layer," Anorah nodded with a serious look.
"What about the other major factions?"
"All taken care of."
’It’s on a much larger scale than I thought.’
Beside him, Magnus and Kiara’s expressions had turned grim.
"So... even after everyone he killed..."
"Yes." Atticus nodded at Kiara, whose eyes had grown horrified. "There’s still a much larger army waiting for us."
A tense silence settled across the room. Atticus’ mind instinctively went into overdrive.
’A much larger army.’
It was the last thing he’d ever expected. Even he had failed to grasp the vastness of the entire layer. To think the Redflames would conquer it all was incomprehensible.
"Who leads them?"
"From what I heard, a friend of yours."
"Merek..."
’At least I was right about that.’
"Though I should add that your friendship probably runs deeper now," Anorah said. "After all, you’ve just killed two more of his children."
Atticus didn’t visibly react.
’Doesn’t matter.’
After all, killing two more children couldn’t deepen a hate that was already at its deepest.
’I have to get ready.’
Atticus could feel the tension brewing in his bones. An endless army he gained nothing from killing. A powerful leader whose strength was likely far beyond his.
Was the situation not truly dire?
"So..." Anorah suddenly brushed his chin with a smile, "what’s the plan?"
Atticus squinted his eyes. "Shouldn’t I be asking you that?"
She led the entire resistance. Just who should be making plans now?
"Ho. A man should always lead, no?" She turned toward Magnus. "Isn’t that right, Grandpa Magnus?"
Magnus blinked, startled as all eyes turned to him.
"Hmm? ... yes." He nodded, suddenly staring at Atticus with a firm gaze.
’You betrayed me, Grandpa.’
Who knew Magnus had such a weakness? Give him a compliment and you’d have won him over. The Ravensteins on Eldoralth would riot when they learn this.
’I’ll start paying him more compliments now.’
He sighed, then turned toward Anorah watching him intently with her beautiful golden eyes.
"We prepare for war."
Anorah smiled.
"Ouhh, fierce. I like."
Atticus cleared his throat and turned away, but stopped as she suddenly grabbed his shoulder.
’It’s tight.’
"By the way, my sweet man. Mind explaining... that?" Anorah pointed toward the princess currently being held by Kiara. His crimson will currently enveloped her.
"You found another hot blonde in my absence, did you?"
As he met Anorah’s eyes, Atticus felt a chill crawl down his spine.
"Hmm?" Her smile didn’t reach her eyes. "Why aren’t you saying anything, my sweet man?"
’I have to be careful with my words.’
Atticus cleared his throat and glanced toward Kiara, who had suddenly held her lady tighter.
