Atticus tore through the endless forest at unimaginable speed.
’Where is he?’
Only a minute had passed since he killed hundreds of gods and took over a territory. Though his will and awareness expanded to encompass its entirety and more, Atticus still hadn’t been able to find Magnus.
’Has someone gotten to him already?’
It was an unimaginable thought. If Magnus had unluckily met his end from a random champion...
Atticus’ aura grew cold. He would see to it that he slaughtered every soul in this game.
’No. I can’t think like that.’ 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
He shook his head, slowly unclenching his hardened fist.
’Other territories. Yes, he could be in other territories.’
Unfortunately, the Great Verge had gone through great lengths to make sure nothing was easy.
As an Eldorian connected to Eldoralth, Atticus should be able to sense Magnus despite the distance. But not only could he not, he couldn’t even sense his soulkin and bond.
’Ozeroth. Noctis...’
Atticus was also worried about them, but right now, Magnus took priority.
’They can take care of themselves. Especially Whisker.’
"Look! He’s captured a territory! Let’s go after him!"
"He’s mine!"
Atticus’ eyes flashed cold and he gripped his katana. As multiple gods surged towards him, he vanished.
Heads flew into the sky and landed on the earth with loud thuds. The forest fell silent, but Atticus was already long gone.
’This beacon is annoying.’
The territory came with great benefits, but also great disadvantages. Though his reach had now expanded, as its lord, leaving the territory attached a beacon to him that alerted all gods about his status as lord.
Defeating and killing him meant taking over his territory, which made everyone he came in contact with come after him with their full force.
’There’s also that bounty to worry about... what’s my next course of action...?’
Atticus closed his eyes for a moment then opened them.
’Capture another territory.’
He had to expand his awareness to increase his chances of searching for Magnus.
His next move decided, he tore forward at even more speed.
Though they were mostly low leveled gods with little minor worlds under their belt, every god he met on the way was killed effortlessly and he kept on accumulating more worlds.
Atticus was far too worried about Magnus to bother checking how many worlds he’d gathered so far. He wasn’t going to leave this layer without finding Magnus first.
Soon enough, he came to an abrupt stop as he reached the end of a tall cliff. A large city stretched across the valley below.
’The next territory.’
Atticus jumped. The wind lashed at him, whipping his air and clothes, but his eyes remained wide open as he scanned and scanned.
For any signs. Any clue. Time had passed since the game began, and the longer Magnus remained alone the more dangerous it became. He had to be in this territory or else it might be too late.
’C’mon grandpa... anything...’
A flash of light snapped Atticus’ gaze towards one part of the city, followed by the crackle of thunder.
His eyes sharpened.
’Lightning.’
Clouds gathered across the sky, and lightning flashed within its depth, followed by the rumble of thunder.
’Is it...?’
In a world where will was power, there was only one person he knew who was so stubborn as to use lightning to fight.
’Grandpa...’
Atticus’ eyes narrowed to slits as he landed just outside the city. He blurred forward at insane speed, tearing through the city.
...
"Huh? What the heck is this? Lightning?"
A man burst into laughter as he swatted away a streak of lightning about to hit him, as though it were an annoying bug.
