Sentient beings were defined by their reflexive nature.
From humans to every other race, it was the same. Should an object be suddenly hurtled towards one’s face, their first reaction would almost always be to evade.
It was instinct. A natural reaction.
It was this same reaction that the Roman soldier expected when he threw his spear.
His will wrapped around it, spiraled towards the tip like a drill burrowing underground. The speed was so absurd it zipped through the air as a streak of light. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
As Atticus raised his head and narrowed his eyes at the spear, the Roman soldier’s eyes gleamed.
’We’ve got him.’
Atticus would dodge left, where his companion, the knight, waited for him with the next attack. And if he somehow managed to dodge that, the monk would descend from the sky.
It was foolproof. One that hinged on a single thing, reflex.
’Come on... dodge.’
But Atticus did not move. As his crimson Will blazed around him, the Roman soldier’s pupils shrank.
’Don’t tell me...’
The boy was planning on clashing directly?
’Fool.’
The Roman soldier studied him sharply.
’At most twenty five minor worlds.’
He could sense it from the thickness and pressure of Atticus’ will. It was impressive, but wasn’t nearly enough.
Of the four, the weakest amongst them had twenty nine minor worlds under their belt. He personally had thirty one.
’Is it because of his true will?’
The information from the bounty had been very detailed. If that was truly the case, the Roman soldier couldn’t help but shake his head.
’It’s not enough.’
True will or not, there was simply no way it could bridge six minor world gap. Atticus would lose.
’I’ll kill him myself.’
There was no need for the other attacks. Just this was enough. The Roman soldier poured more power into the spear, and the will around it flared violently.
He smirked.
’It’s over.’
Atticus calmly unsheathed his katana, and a slash materialized, surging towards the descending spear.
Their collision lit up the alleyway. The smile on the Roman soldier froze as his spear split cleanly in two.
"Impossible!"
The slash continued straight for him.
"Shit!"
The Roman soldier forced his composure back in place and hurled himself to the side, barely evading the slash.
He fixed his eyes back on Atticus just as the boy turned to him. For a moment, he met those cold, calculating eyes and found his pulse pounding.
’What is he?’
"I got him!"
The Knight roared from the alley’s entrance, lowering his massive frame, his greatsword pointed straight at Atticus.
"Bull Run!"
His will blazed around him, taking the form of a colossal bull that filled the entire alley.
"No, wai—"
"I’ll crush you!"
He charged with the force of a mountain, his every step rumbling the earth.
"Omnicognition."
Atticus’ eyes flashed gold and he thrust his katana. His will flared, bursting forth in the form of a towering dragon that shot forward to meet the bull.
’He copied it!’
