Chapter 1458: Bounty Update

(AN: Remember to read the previous Chapter first before this one)

Atticus sheathed his katana and continued moving through the forest. But seconds had barely passed when he thought about the god he’d just killed.

’Why was he happy?’

Asides that, the man had spoken as though he knew Atticus.

’The bounty...’

The bounty the Will Guard placed on him after their clash on the Willess World. If it was still active, it meant others would be coming for him.

’Things just got more complicated.’

People would be hunting him, and it wasn’t only low level barons like the one he’d just killed, but higher levels too.

’I have to get stronger fast.’

Atticus increased his speed once more. As though the world answered his thoughts, more low level gods came for him and ended up with severed heads before they could finish talking.

Eventually, Atticus reached the end of the forest and stared at the massive walled city just after the foliage.

’The first territory...’

He glanced at the sides and realized he couldn’t see the end of the city walls.

’It’s vast... how should I go about this?’

In such an enclosed space, it was easy to get surrounded from all sides, especially with the bounty on him. Atticus called upon his status and checked how many minor worlds he’d gathered.

’Seventeen worlds in total...’

He’d only met low level gods so far. It was both good and bad news. Good, in the sense that he could easily dispatch each of them, and bad, in that his progress was stunted.

’There’s no choice. I need a territory.’

Gripping his blade, he shot forward and quickly scaled the fence, entering the city.

...

"He’s here."

A man held a set of binoculars over his eyes. Through it, he watched a boy with a katana strapped to his left waist jump down from the city wall.

"That was quick," another spoke.

The man dropped the binoculars and turned. He was tall, but toned rather than buff. Clad in leather armor and skirt, and holding a helmet in his other hand, he looked every bit like a Roman soldier.

"It’s to our benefit. The bounty is ours for the taking," he said, facing the man who’d spoken.

"Benefit? I’m not so sure about that," the second replied.

He was a man of imposing stature. Heavily armored from head to toe, he held a large sword with both hands. He looked every bit like a legendary knight.

"What do you mean?"

"Think about it. Every god in this layer is a baron, which means most would go after him for the bounty. Yet he made it here so fast and completely unscathed."

"He’s strong."

They turned toward the third. His eyes were half-closed, and he was clad in a flowing robe, palms pressed together as though constantly praying.

"Exactly," the knight nodded.

"Doesn’t matter."

They turned to the fourth. He rested by the wall, brushing his fingers against the hilt of his katana. He was donned in a kimono, and rough hair framed his face.

He met the eyes of the other three with a steely gaze.

"We’re bounty hunters. We kill him."

"He’s right," the Roman said. "This is why we joined hands in the first place. If you want to back out, do it now."

He met eyes with each of them, but none looked away.

"Alright then," the Roman smiled, "let’s go hunting."

...

"I found him! He’s over there!"

’Another one.’

Atticus narrowed his eyes as he blurred through the streets of the city.

’How do they keep finding me?’

Only a few minutes had gone by, and he had to fight and kill more than three gods. He wouldn’t have cared if he simply ran into them, however, that wasn’t what was happening.
