Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground novel Chapter 1245

Chapter 1245: MatchUp

The High Marshal’s gaze tore wide open as he watched his shield, the same shield that he had full confidence would survive a clash with gods and more, being treated as though it were nothing.

But there was no time for comprehension. He glanced down. The gleaming blade of Atticus’ katana was inches away from severing his neck.

There was no time to raise his hands. His fingers moved as he reached out to one of the seals he had placed in the area.

A bright glow enveloped his entire figure, and in the next instant, a tree appeared in place of the High Marshal.

Atticus’ attack continued. The tree was torn apart before the attack could even hit it, and a slash of terrifying proportions screamed outward, splitting the fog and clouds for hundreds of kilometers.

Atticus turned calmly towards the side. There, hovering just above where a massive tree once was, was the High Marshal.

His breathing was surprisingly heavy, deep, ragged breaths. His eyes were wide, utterly focused on one figure. Atticus.

He had almost died.

The child god had almost killed him. Him!

The High Marshal forcibly slowed down his beating heart, coldness radiating off him as he stared at Atticus with nothing but hostility.

Thoughts rang in his head. This child was not as he seemed. He was not the weak god Dronvet had assumed he was. This battle was more dangerous than he had thought. If he was not careful, he would lose his life.

Dronvet’s eyes turned cold. His hands blurred in front of him, and the skies ignited in a burst of light. An army of spears appeared above him in the sky, tips pointed directly at Atticus.

"There will be no more holding back," Dronvet said coldly.

His hand dropped, and the army of spears rained downward toward Atticus from every conceivable angle like a rain of devastation.

Atticus didn’t seem to register the bombardment. All that could be seen around him for miles were spears screaming toward him, but all Atticus could see was the Marshal standing at the end of this bombardment.

The screaming spears reached him.

"Endless Blade."

Atticus calmly sheathed and unsheathed his katana.

Time around him seemed to slow for a moment, and then a burst of blinding light detonated from his body, birthing an endless swarm of screaming slashes that tore through the air around him.

A cacophony of explosions erupted as slashes and spears met, birthing a kaleidoscope of lights and explosions that ignited the entire area. The force of it shook the land and painted the skies in swirls of azure and crimson

In the midst of this chaos, Dronvet’s eyes shot wide as Atticus vanished from his vision.

The instinctive sense of death gripped him once more. He glanced back, Atticus’ blade was screaming towards the back of his head in a sharp thrust.

Dronvet’s body had moved before he could form any thoughts.

"Warpath Surge."

Mana slammed into his body like a tsunami, crashing through every fiber of his being.

His figure turned translucent, hair whipping wildly as his eyes flashed blue. A radiant blade appeared in his grasp as he spun, bringing it to meet the incoming thrust.

His expression had twisted into nothing but hate as he continually clashed with Atticus. Every clash shattered his weapon, but he always created a new one, only for it to shatter again and again.

Dronvet was finding it difficult to understand just what the hell Atticus’ katana was made of. It was only a thin blade and looked like it could be snapped like a twig. Why the hell was it so sturdy!?

He cleared the thought as fast as it had formed. His teeth were gritted hard, eyes darting rapidly, evading attacks, sending out his own.

Dronvet couldn’t count the number of times he had escaped death since the clash began. The title "child god" had long since left his mind.

What stood before him now was nothing but a monster. He couldn’t even begin to understand the number of abilities Atticus possessed.

Dronvet had used mana to create a storm of fire, heat that would put volcanoes to shame, but Atticus had walked through it as if it were nothing but a passing breeze.

The fire didn’t even dare touch him. Dronvet had tried other elemental attacks, only to realize none of them worked. Not even space.

He had focused solely on mana based attacks, but even then, he kept getting pushed back. Atticus had some sort of energy that could phase through his defenses, no matter how strong he made them.

He couldn’t understand it. His Warpath Surge combined with his Banner of Conqueror granted him unparalleled power in battle.

He could see that he was faster, had more mana, but no matter what he did, Atticus always seemed to have an ability that perfectly countered it.

How could one person have so many abilities? What the hell was this kid!?

Worse than that, he felt a searing pain coursing through his being as their wills continued to clash. Atticus’ will was burning his.

His heart thundered in his chest, and his mind spun wildly, trying to find a solution. There was no way he could lose. The people back at Surnix Hold were watching!
