Even though Old Master Bai didn’t want to believe it, he had to believe that there was some conspiracy happening behind the scenes.
"Still, you need to calm down and think things through." Director Feng could understand what Old Master Bai was suffering at the moment. The daughter and granddaughter he raised with his blood, sweat and tears turned out to be a fake. It would be a surprise if Old Master Bai weren’t furious.
"You tell me how I am supposed to be calm!?" Old Master Bai asked with an angry look on his face. He glanced at the man beside him and said to Director Feng, "How am I supposed to stay calm? The fact alone that someone stole the life of my daughter and gave it to a fake is enough to make my blood boil."
He bristled angrily and blew out a puff of hot breath. He then said to Director Feng, "I mean. Even if the Bai family has fallen, we still have enough connections to live comfortably in these times, and when I think about how those two women are living a good life while my own daughter and her children are fighting every day to survive—it leaves a bad taste in my mouth."
He glanced at Yan Wanning, who was serving another bowl of porridge to a woman with a child in her arms. She should have grown up with a silver spoon in her mouth, and yet here she was serving others. How could Old Master Bai not be angry?
Director Feng noticed that Old Master Bai was simply furious beyond reasoning and pursed his lips in silence. He didn’t dare to tell the truth about Yan Wanning’s life experience to the man, for he was worried that Old Master Bai would lose his temper once again. He knew that if he told the truth about Yan Wanning being abandoned by Bai Qingshi, Old Master Bai would hunt down the man even if it meant dying in the wake of his ambition.
"I know that you are angry," said Director Feng with a comforting tone. "However, what’s the point of losing your temper right now? You can’t even do anything."
As soon as Old Master Bai heard the words of his friend, he deflated. That was right; what could he even do in this situation?
Seeing that the old man had stopped making a fuss, Director Feng heaved a sigh of relief. He said to Old Master Bai, "Firstly, you need to look for a way to get a DNA test done, since your daughter is not here; you can do it without anyone messing with the test results."
"What? Do you mean to say that my daughter is someone who will cause trouble?" Old Master Bai questioned. Even though he knew that Bai Ying was not a good woman, he still felt a bit stifled when he heard Director Feng say such a thing. He might not be the one involved in teaching his daughter; his wife had indeed taken care of Bai Ying.
They had done everything to raise her into a kind person.
"You are speaking as if you have no idea what kind of person Miss Ying is?" Director Feng sighed exaggeratedly.
