Screams erupted all over the base. The swarm of flesh-eating bugs was like a storm that seemed to have taken over. Everyone who was outside was affected; from the guards to the common survivors who couldn’t find a place to stay because they didn’t have enough crystal nuclei, everyone was razed until only bones were left behind.

Bai Meiyue closed her eyes as she listened to the cries of horror. She could smell the scent of blood getting thicker with each passing second, and she knew that this was only going to agitate the flesh-eating bugs even further. Her guess was spot on as the bugs started to attack the humans even fiercely.

The ability users were sent to deal with the swarm, but none of them could hold these flesh-eating bugs back and lost their lives in the hands of the flesh-eating bugs. By the time the higher officials realised that these bugs couldn’t be controlled, more than fifteen ability users had lost their lives.

These bugs looked like a mixture of cockroaches and warts, which made them look even more disgusting and sent shivers down the spines of many of the women who were standing behind Bai Meiyue.

Even Mother Bai didn’t look good; after taking a good look at the flesh-eating bugs, she knew that they were disgusting, but she never knew that they would be this horrible.

The flesh-eating bugs were dealt with by Bai Meiyue in a matter of a few minutes, and alongside her, the bushes that she had exchanged through the barter system also did their thing. They cleared up the flesh-eating bugs in a matter of a few seconds. Their actions were swift and concise, leaving no one to even gasp at what happened.

Yang Chunhua gasped as she peered down at the streets; she could see a child trying to hide from these flesh-eating bugs, even when they were gnawing on his flesh from the inside. She could see many small bumps on the legs of the child, and it made something crawl inside of her. She turned to look at Mo He and said to him, "It’s a good thing that we didn’t go outside today to exchange the supplies for crystal nuclei, or else we would have been killed as well."

Mo He, who was usually chatty and smiling, also had a sombre expression today as he stared at the sight in front of him. These bugs had even shaken him, and he had no idea what to do anymore. The heavens seemed to be going against them and wished to take them down in one big swoop.
