If she ended up pregnant, there was no way she’d let the baby be born. Honestly, who could say if the child would be Jordan’s or one of those other men’s? She refused to take that risk. If Jordan ever found out the truth, she’d be finished. She already had a plan in mind. If she did get pregnant, she’d find a way to pin it all on Isabella again.
Last time, Cynthia and Isabella had managed to slip away and her scheme had failed. Now, to make things worse, she realized Jordan had been planning to betray her all along.
Natalie kept ranting, her voice growing louder until York finally lifted his hand, signaling her to stop. He was getting tired of the noise.
“Even if I wanted to get Ethan into bed, he wouldn’t let me,” she said, frustration clear in her voice. “He’s completely in love with Isabella now. All he cares about is winning her back. I really tried, but he shut me down so hard. It was beyond embarrassing.” Just thinking about facing Ethan now made her feel uneasy.
“That’s your issue to handle. I want results. Also, your friend has her eye on Harold, doesn’t she? Tell her to go all in, do whatever it takes to win him over. We need to make sure Isabella loses every chance to marry into another powerful family.”
“If Ethan and Harold aren’t there to back her up, I’ll crush her business, ruin her reputation, and tear her family apart.”
York wasn’t against getting rid of Isabella and Ethan for good, but it just wasn’t that simple. This was a society of laws, with surveillance cameras everywhere. Besides, both Isabella and Ethan were practically celebrities in Cabinda, people with status and influence. If something happened to them, it would cause a huge scene.
If he killed them, he’d never get away with it. He didn’t want to take that kind of risk.
He forced himself to be patient, determined to take things slow. He wanted to strip Ethan and Isabella of everything, make them suffer, and leave their lives in ruins. In the end, he’d make sure their deaths looked completely natural. That way, nothing would come back to him.
Natalie was his sharpest weapon, the one he could use best.
She hated Isabella more than anyone. Even without his push, Natalie would do whatever she could to ruin Isabella’s life.
