Isabella skimmed through the script, then looked up at the three men in front of her. “Frank, I appreciate you reaching out and wanting to work with me. Of course, I’ll help you out. How much do you need me to invest?”
Frank answered without hesitation. “If you can put in at least eighty million, we can get this movie off the ground. My company will handle the bigger share.”
He added, “But if you’re feeling generous, a hundred million would be even better.”
Frank already knew Ethan had given Isabella a hefty sum as compensation. Still, Isabella had invested most of that money into Barbara and Linda’s projects. Frank guessed she probably had a little more than a hundred million left in cash, which was why he set the minimum at eighty million.
He also knew Isabella’s company needed to keep running. She couldn’t throw everything she had into one film. Even though he and Lyndon really believed in this project, every other investor they’d approached had turned them down.
Honestly, Frank hadn’t even planned to ask Isabella. It was Ethan’s idea. Ethan told him to pick any script and bring it to Isabella for a joint investment. Since Ethan ran The Adams Group, a partnership between one of his subsidiaries and Isabella’s company basically meant The Adams Group itself would be working with her.
Ethan thought this connection would help him get the upper hand over his rival, Harold.
Harold was buying short scripts on the cheap and having Isabella produce them. He made a little money, but that wasn’t what he cared about. What mattered was building a working relationship with Isabella. It gave him a reason to see her whenever he wanted.
That’s why Frank picked the script that he and Lyndon believed in, even though everyone else had dismissed it, and decided to see if Isabella was interested. If she was, great. If not, he’d figure out something else.
Ethan had made it clear he expected results. He’d even promised to cover any funding gap himself if needed.
Isabella thought for a moment, then said, “I’ll invest the minimum, eighty million.”
