After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 737

“Ever since that whole thing with Ethan and Isabella almost getting kidnapped, I’ve been worried about your safety. I really wish you wouldn’t go out at night if you can avoid it. What if something happened? I asked Malvina to pick me up just in case.”

Natalie shot him a look, her tone teasing. “But you’re not worried about Malvina’s safety? She’s gorgeous, you know, and has a killer body. What if she runs into some creep in the middle of the night while she’s picking you up?”

Jordan’s hands kept moving, but his voice stayed cool. “She’s my secretary. She does what I ask, and if something goes wrong, that’s on her. I keep her because she’s good at her job, and honestly, I don’t want to bother training someone new.” He glanced at Natalie, his expression softening. “You’re the only one I care about. You’re the only one I’ll ever love.”

He finished brushing her hair, then opened her jewelry box and picked out a necklace, fastening it gently around her neck. Leaning in, he kissed her on the cheek and whispered, “See? I’m always hungry for you. I can’t get enough… I’m addicted to your body, and only yours.”

The truth was, Jordan hadn’t actually crossed the line with Natalie—not yet. Sure, he and Malvina had held hands, shared a couple of hugs, and exchanged plenty of flirtatious looks. Last night, though, after he’d had too much to drink and she came to pick him up, things got a little more heated. They ended up kissing in the car, more than once.

Malvina had told him she was in love with him, that she wanted to be his. He’d felt the pull too, almost giving in and sleeping with her right there. But Malvina had stopped him, saying she didn’t want their first time to happen in a car. She’d been hustling in Cabinda for years, still renting a place, and she wanted a real home of her own.

Jordan had promised her, right then, that she could pick out any place she liked and he’d buy it for her, no questions asked. She’d been so happy, wrapping her arms around him and kissing him again, her voice soft as she told him that once she had her new house, and a brand new bed, they could finally be together for real.

Even now, thinking about it made Jordan’s heart race.
