Jesse looked at Laura, his eyes soft. “Laura, I’ll always be good to you. I can wait for you to fall in love with me, however long it takes. I’ve got my whole life ahead of me to wait. I really believe that one day you’ll love me back. I don’t fall for people easily, but when I do, it’s for good. For life.”
Laura just smiled and let it go at that. There was nothing more to say. Words didn’t mean much. Life was long. Who could say if feelings would change or stay the same?
She knew most couples were truly in love when they first got married. Still, so many of them didn’t make it. Even people who’d once been crazy about each other could end up drifting apart.
It felt even riskier among wealthy families. Marriages there rarely lasted. People who’d seemed perfect together would break up or move on in a few years.
Jesse’s feelings seemed real right now. Laura believed that much. But the promise of loving only her for a lifetime? She just couldn’t buy it, not yet. Accepting Jesse meant taking a risk. Was she brave enough to gamble on love?

Meanwhile, Isabella found herself in the middle of a standoff. Harold and Ethan were both insisting on taking her home.
The two guys started arguing, neither willing to back down.
Ethan jumped in first. “It just makes sense for me to take her. She lives right next door, we’re neighbors. I have a bunch of bodyguards with me, and I know how to take care of myself.”
