After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 707

When Ethan married Isabella, he wasn’t really in love with her. He never stopped to think about what she wanted or needed.

Jesse, on the other hand, was different. He cared about Laura for real, always thinking ahead, always putting her first.

Laura didn’t say anything more. She got it. His feelings were clear enough for her.

She turned away and settled onto the sofa.

A moment later, Jesse came out from the kitchen with a plate of freshly cut fruit. He set it down in front of her.

“Here, have some fruit after your meal.”

“I’m honestly so full,” Laura said, rubbing her stomach. “Your cooking just keeps getting better. I ate way too much and now I can’t fit another bite.”

Jesse could see she wasn’t just being polite, so he took the fruit back to the kitchen.

He reappeared soon after, this time with a lidded fruit container, neatly packed into a bag. He put it on the table in front of her. “Take this with you to the shop. If you get tired of writing, you’ll have something to snack on.”

Laura laughed. “There’s always food at the shop.”

Still, she took the bag. Jesse really was so thoughtful and attentive.

About half an hour later, they headed downstairs together. Laura still couldn’t drive, so Jesse offered to take her back to her store.

“I’ll come pick you up tonight after I finish work,” Jesse said.

Laura shook her head. “I’ll be fine riding my bike home tonight. You’ve got work dinners and stuff, so don’t worry about me. If you ever need me to pick you up, just call.”

He was always looking after her. Maybe it was time she did something for him.

Jesse smiled. “If I ever have too much to drink at a dinner, I’ll call you to come rescue me.”

“Deal.”

After a pause, Jesse said, “I have a dinner party to go to tomorrow night. Would you come with me?”

She’d turned him down for these kinds of things before, always preferring not to go.

“Isabella got an invite too,” Jesse added.
