Jesse laughed and shook his head. “You told me to find a skirt, remember? Laura’s pants didn’t fit, and honestly, this is way more comfortable. Hurry up and come inside before someone catches me looking like this.”
He stepped aside so Melissa could walk in.
Melissa glanced around Laura’s place as she entered. The apartment wasn’t fancy, definitely nothing like The Mason Estate, but Laura kept everything spotless. There was a cozy, welcoming vibe that made it feel like home. Melissa couldn’t help but think Laura really knew how to take care of herself and her space.
She mentally gave Laura a solid ninety out of a hundred. For someone as picky as Melissa, that was almost unheard of.
“Is Laura doing okay?” Melissa asked, her voice soft with concern. She handed Jesse the bag she’d brought. “Go on, get changed.”
“Hang on. Let me get a photo first,” Melissa grinned, already pulling out her phone.
Jesse’s cheeks went bright red. “Melissa, please don’t. If anyone sees that, my reputation’s toast.”
Melissa snapped two quick photos anyway. “Relax, I’m not going to blackmail you. I’ll just send them to Laura when she wakes up, so she knows what you did for her.”
Jesse gave up trying to argue. He just shook his head and went to change.
When he came back, he handed Melissa a glass of warm water. “Laura’s asleep. She shouldn’t be any trouble for a while.”
