“Alright, don’t be mad, okay? I love you. You’re the only one for me, always will be. I’d never betray you.” Jordan pressed a gentle kiss to her cheek, his hands smoothing her clothes and lingering on her face with a soft, careful touch.
“I’ll grab some ice for your cheek.”
Natalie let out a huff. “You just stood there and watched me get slapped. You didn’t even help me deal with that witch. Now you’re acting all concerned? Seriously, it just feels fake.”
Jordan actually knew a few self-defense moves. If he’d wanted, he could have broken up the fight in seconds. Instead, he’d only stepped in after she and Mandy had already gone at it. And honestly, his first attempt to break things up just got her hit even harder.
“I did try to stop you,” Jordan said. “You told me to stay out of it and shoved me away. So I had to pull Mandy off you instead.”
“How am I faking it? You’re my wife. Of course I care about you.”
He kissed her cheek again before heading to the break room for an ice pack from the freezer. Coming back, he gently pressed it to Natalie’s face.
“Jordan, promise me you’ll never cheat. Don’t fall for anyone else. If you ever do something to hurt me, I won’t let it slide. And honestly, it’s not like you’re my only option. If I wanted someone else, it wouldn’t be that hard.”
He smiled. “We’ve known each other since we were kids. You know exactly what kind of person I am. I could never betray you. You’re the love of my life. We’re in this forever.”
“You’ve done so much for me, too. Helped me land all those deals, brought in so much business for The Lane Group.”
He looked at her, sincerity in his eyes. “I love you. I want to spoil you. A wife like you is one of a kind. No one else even comes close.”
And honestly, no one else could bring him the kind of benefits Natalie did.
“Did you ever go apologize to Ethan, like you said?” he asked.
