Isabella shot Jennifer a look. “Jennifer, Ethan’s lost it. I’m done with him. I’m never stepping foot in your house again.”
“Once Ethan and I finalize the divorce, we’re nothing to each other. If you don’t like me, that’s your problem. You won’t have to target me anymore.”
“Let Ethan spend the rest of his life with that woman. I don’t care.”
She glanced toward the entrance. “The police are here. And the reporters I called are coming in right behind them.”
Isabella took a few steps back, quietly watching the scene unfold.
Natalie noticed the police really were heading straight for her, even though she still couldn’t spot any reporters. Her stomach twisted with dread.
Jennifer didn’t even get a chance to speak. At first, panic flashed across her face, but she quickly forced herself to stay calm.
Sure, Sophia had spiked the drink, but it was Ethan who ended up drinking it. If they went to the police station and Sophia insisted it was just a prank meant to embarrass Isabella, and since nothing too serious happened, she wouldn’t end up in jail. At worst, a few days in detention and maybe a fine.
If they stuck to that story, Natalie would probably get the same outcome.
Ethan wouldn’t want Natalie or Sophia locked up anyway, so none of this would have lasting consequences.
Once Jennifer worked all that out in her mind, she finally relaxed.
Two police officers walked up to Natalie. After a few questions, they asked her to come with them to the station to cooperate with the investigation.
