After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 578

Isabella finally let go of his hair, and only then could Ethan lift his head.

“Ethan, don’t make me hate you.” Her voice trembled, but she tried to sound strong.

“You don’t love me anymore. If all I can get from you is hate, at least you’ll still remember me.” His words were cold, and they sent a chill right through her. For a second, Isabella was terrified he might really force himself on her.

But then, just like that, he let go.

The second his grip loosened, she bolted sideways, rolling right off the bed and hitting the floor with a dull thud. Ethan watched her tumble, and just before she landed, he called out, “Careful!” He reached out to catch her, but he was too slow.

She landed hard, but scrambled to her feet before he could help her. She practically crawled away from him, getting as much distance as she could.

Her panic, the way she avoided him, left Ethan frozen. The look she gave him... it was as if he was something dangerous, something she needed to escape.

“This is your room. I’m going back to mine.” Her voice was tight.

Only then did Isabella realize she wasn’t even in her own bedroom. Without looking back, she rushed out the door.

Ethan didn’t try to stop her. As soon as she was gone, he slumped onto the bed and punched the mattress in frustration. What had he done? Things between them were already a mess, and he’d just made it worse. Now she probably wouldn’t even let him hold her hand.

But he just couldn’t help himself. He wanted to kiss her so badly, to remind her she was still his wife. That she belonged with him.

Isabella ran to her room and locked the door behind her. She wiped her mouth, noticing the faint taste of blood. She must have bitten him. His blood was on her lips.

“Total psycho,” Isabella muttered quietly.

She grabbed some clean clothes and went straight into the bathroom, desperate for a shower to wash away every trace of him. Under the hot water, she tried to scrub the feeling off her skin, off her lips. When she was finally done, she wrapped herself in a towel, feeling a little more like herself.

She sat on the sofa and reached for her phone, wanting to text Laura—but then she remembered she’d left it behind in Ethan’s room. Of course.
