After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 235

Dinner had been lively and fun, but Ethan definitely went a little overboard with the wine. By the end of it, he was clearly tipsy.

They didn’t stick around after they finished eating. As soon as they got in the car, Isabella let go of Ethan’s arm and shot him a look. “All this, just for her? You skipped your business trip, drank way too much, and now you stink of booze. Gross.”

Was she really worth it?

Ethan just leaned back in his seat, closed his eyes, and didn’t bother to respond.

His face was still swollen from where Isabella had slapped him earlier, so going out in public was out of the question. He’d ended up asking Jeremy to cover his business trip that afternoon.

Isabella glanced at him for a second, then just ignored him and grabbed her phone. She texted Laura to check in about the filming.

Short dramas like theirs were quick to shoot, but the editing always took longer. Usually, it only took about a week to finish filming.

Laura called her right away.

Isabella picked up. “Hey.”

“I’m still at the set,” Laura said. “Everything’s going really well. Footage looks amazing. I’m keeping an eye on everything, so don’t worry.”

The cast and director were all people Frank had recommended. Even the newbies he signed were super professional, trained, and took everything seriously. The quality of their acting was just on another level compared to amateurs.

“That’s great. I’ll come by tomorrow.”

“Perfect. If you’re here, I can finally go home and work on my updates. Not having anything saved up is the worst. It feels like I’m always rushing to finish each chapter right before the deadline.”

Isabella laughed. “That’s because you’re lazy. You type so fast, you could be done in two hours if you just got down to it. But you always wait until the last possible minute.”

Jesse had come by too, and he was still hanging out on set, but Laura didn’t mention that part.

“Did Linda stop by?”

“No, nothing from her. She hasn’t even asked about it. It’s like she couldn’t care less about her investment.”

Linda was even more successful than Barbara—a real boss, always busy. For her, investing in their series was probably just a side project, not something she took seriously.

“She’ll care once we’ve made it,” Isabella said, sounding sure of herself. “She’s not the only one. A lot of people are just watching, waiting to see what happens.”

Once short dramas really took off, everyone would want a piece. But it’s like any business. When only a couple of people are in, they get the biggest share. But once the crowd shows up, there isn’t enough to go around, and some people won’t get anything at all.
