After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 22

After everything she’d been through in her previous life, Isabella Lane wasn’t the least bit fazed by Ethan’s good looks anymore.

About ten minutes later, the group pulled up to Blue Night. Isabella found a parking spot and eased the car in. She hadn’t even unbuckled her seatbelt when a shiny Maybach slid into the spot right across from them.

The second Isabella caught sight of the license plate, she panicked and threw herself down across the passenger seat, trying to make herself invisible.

“Isabella, what’s going on?” Laura Charles was halfway out of the car when she saw her friend suddenly duck down. She looked confused.

Isabella’s voice was barely more than a whisper. “That’s Ethan’s car in the spot across from us.”

Laura had only met Ethan twice. The first time was when he picked up Isabella while they were out shopping, and the second time was at the wedding three days ago, where Laura had been her bridesmaid. Her impression of him was that he was mature, steady, and impossibly handsome, though a little cold. She had no clue what kind of car he drove or what his license plate looked like.

She glanced at the Maybach, trying to work it out.

“Laura, let’s wait until he’s gone before we get out,” Isabella whispered, her nerves getting the best of her.

Laura nodded quickly. That was a no-brainer. If Ethan caught her bringing his brand new wife out to a bar to check out other guys, he’d never forgive her. People like Ethan had all sorts of complicated rules. Most wives in families like his were expected to stay home, look after the house, and keep a low profile. Sneaking out to a bar at night was definitely not part of the plan.

“He’s getting out of the car,” Laura whispered.

Isabella tensed up even more. She leaned all the way over onto Laura’s lap, covering her face with her hands, hoping that maybe, just maybe, Ethan wouldn’t remember the license plate on her brand new car.
