After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 194

Isabella dropped Laura off at her apartment complex and parked at the gate.

“Aren’t you coming up for a bit?” Laura asked, unbuckling her seatbelt.

Isabella shook her head. “Not today. I should get home. I’ve got a feeling there’s a fight waiting for me.”

“If it gets too much, just leave him,” Laura said, her tone gentle and full of concern. “We’ve got investors now. Even without Ethan, we can stand on our own.”

“Oh, I’m definitely leaving him. Just not yet,” Isabella replied with a little smirk. “After everything he’s put me through, I’d be stupid to walk away empty-handed. Plus, it feels pretty good to get under his skin every now and then.”

She knew it was petty, but she couldn’t help herself.

“Seriously, let me know if you need anything,” Laura said.

Isabella smiled, warm and genuine. “I will. You’re the best.”

She watched Laura head inside, waiting until her friend disappeared before driving off.

When Isabella got home, Susan was already outside waiting for her. As soon as she parked, the housekeeper hurried over, more attentive than Isabella had ever seen her. In two lifetimes, she’d never seen Susan act so careful. Ethan must still be angry, probably lying in wait to blow up at her.

“Isabella, you’re finally home,” Susan said, relief in her voice.

“Yeah, I’m back,” Isabella answered, heading for the door. “How’s Ethan?”

“He’s not in a good mood,” Susan replied, wringing her hands. “He ate, took his medicine, and went straight to the gym. He’s still in there. I’m worried about him, he hasn’t been feeling well and he’s been in there a long time.”

Isabella couldn’t help but smirk to herself. For a guy his age, he was surprisingly innocent when it came to this stuff. He’d been hung up on another man’s wife for years and had kept himself completely pure for her. No wonder just being seen shirtless made him blush like a teenager. She wondered what he’d do if she actually teased him. Would he freak out?

“What are you hiding for?” Isabella said, her voice teasing. “There’s not much to look at, anyway.”

Ethan’s face darkened instantly. “Isabella!”

She rolled her eyes. “No need to yell. I’m not deaf.”

“So you finally decided to come home!”

Isabella closed the distance between them, reaching for the towel. He clung to it, refusing to let go. Suddenly, she switched tactics and reached for his waistband. Panic flashed across his face as he grabbed at his pants, looking completely freaked out that she might actually pull them down.
