What’s this?
Isabella tore open the envelope, curiosity winning out. Inside was a neat stack of glossy photos.
She slid them out and took a look. Her eyes widened and she stared, stunned.
These pictures… No way.
It was Natalie. With other men.
Natalie’s face was filled with pleasure, absolutely radiant. It was obvious she wasn’t being forced. And those men, it wasn’t just one or two. There were a lot of them. Too many. Oh god.
Isabella flipped through the photos, then hurriedly shoved them back into the envelope, heart pounding.
Natalie had been cheating too? Was she so desperate to be with Ethan that, after he turned her down, she just moved on to other guys? And who took these pictures? Why send them to her? What were they expecting her to do with them?
After a while, Isabella took the photos out again, this time focusing hard on Natalie’s face in each one. At first glance, Natalie looked like she was enjoying every second… but on closer look, something was off. Her eyes were glazed over, unfocused. That wasn’t just pleasure. It was like Natalie’s mind wasn’t even there.
Was she drugged?
Isabella tried to figure out where the photos had been taken, but the background was a blur. All she could tell was that Natalie was sprawled out on the cold floor, no blanket, no cushion. The furnishings and walls around her were all pixelated, every detail blurred out. There was no way to tell where any of this had happened.
So Natalie had been drugged, and someone had taken these photos. But when? How long ago?
Jackson was too busy with wedding preparations—his ceremony with Deborah was happening next week—so in the meantime, he’d left the company in Jordan’s hands. Jordan was busy and tired but honestly, he was kind of enjoying being in charge for once, hoping to grab some real responsibility while his dad was out of the way.
Everyone at The Lane Group recognized Isabella. No one stopped her. She walked right up to the executive floor without the slightest interruption.
Jordan already knew she was coming. The two of them weren’t related by blood, but whatever brotherly or sisterly feelings they’d once had were long gone. They might as well have been enemies by now. Isabella barely ever came to visit by choice, so Jordan just assumed Natalie must have picked a fight and Isabella was here to complain.
As Isabella stepped past the reception desk, she noticed something new. Jordan now had a male assistant, along with the female secretary—the very woman he’d been involved with. On paper, Jordan had promised the Gates family he would fire his mistress, send her away from Cabinda for good, and cut off all contact so he could return to his family. In reality, he was just pretending to go along with it. He’d hired a male assistant for show, but when Natalie dropped by the office, the female secretary would get the day off while the male one worked.
Everybody in the office knew. Of course no one was going to tell Natalie. They all helped Jordan cover it up, which just went to show how little people liked Natalie around here.
