No, that was impossible! How could he possibly block her number? She was his mother!
Unwilling to accept the reality, Darleen dialed his number once more. Again, a single ring followed by an abrupt disconnection!
Darleen stared at her phone in stunned silence. Her chest heaved violently.
In a desperate move, she snatched Xenia's phone and dialed his number from it. But the result was exactly the same.
He hadn't just blocked his own mother. He had blocked his own sister, too. What was he trying to do? What was his endgame?
Darleen looked at Starla, breathless. "Can you get through to him?"
"He blocked me. What's the matter? Did he block you guys too?"
Darleen had no words. Neither did Xenia. The two exchanged a look. Shock was evident in both their eyes.
They were utterly baffled. Why would he block them?
"You really don't know where he went?" Darleen asked.
"If his own mother doesn't know, how should I?"
Darleen clenched her jaw. She really was asking a pointless question. What on earth was he thinking?
Eventually, Darleen and Xenia found themselves outside, barely remembering how they had managed to walk out.
Xenia supported her mother, whose legs were trembling. "Mom, what is he doing?"
"How should I know? He blocked me!" Darleen screamed, her emotions completely spiraling out of control.
Xenia flinched.
"That little bastard, what is he trying to pull?" Darleen shrieked.
The Yelchin Group, the entire family fortune—he had handed it all over to Starla, yet he refused to finalize the divorce.
As if that wasn't bad enough, now he had vanished into thin air. What was he playing at?
It was becoming more incomprehensible by the minute.
Darleen was seething!
Xenia was equally furious. "So what do we do now? We're kicked out of here. Where are we supposed to sleep tonight?"
They were completely penniless.
Looking at it now, a clean break between Starla and Fairfax wasn't exactly a blessing for them either.
With the money gone, what kind of good life was left for them?
