A Widow's Poison A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 668

Whenever Harriet got angry, Brinley wouldn't dare breathe a word of defiance.

But now...!

She had been cast aside. When Felix dumped her, she could at least blame her own terrible judgment in men. But being abandoned by her own mother?

How was she supposed to rationalize that?

"You were the one who told me to marry Faraday!" Brinley screamed through her tears. "When he died, you told me to stay at the Yelchins, to break up Fairfax and Starla, and to marry Fairfax! Every single thing I did—wasn't that exactly what you wanted?!"

Whether it was Harriet or Darleen, they had all pushed for the exact same agenda, hadn't they? So why was all the blame suddenly dumped squarely on her shoulders?

"Now that everything's blown up in our faces, you're all tossing me aside! You're blaming me, abandoning me—what am I even to you people?!"

She was the mother of Felix's child, and he had thrown her away. She was Harriet's flesh and blood, and she was being thrown away too. For a terrifying second, Brinley didn't even want to comprehend how cursed her existence had become.

"Why?! Tell me why! I did everything exactly the way you told me to, so why is this suddenly all my fault?!"

She had followed Felix's instructions. She had followed Harriet's instructions. She shaped her life around their demands, doing what she was supposed to do, and committing the sins she wasn't supposed to commit.

Everyone always told her she was destined for a charmed life...

So could somebody please explain why she was living in hell?

"Shut up and stop screaming, you ungrateful brat!" Harriet snapped. "Do you think you're the only one suffering right now? This entire nightmare started because of you, and you have the audacity to yell at me?!"

"Yes, it started because of me! It's all my fault! It all started because of my own greed!" Brinley shrieked hysterically.

"You have one day. Remember that!" Not wanting to deal with Brinley's manic episode any longer, Harriet hung up the phone.
