A Life Beyond Limits novel Chapter 788

"What flowers is he holding?" someone in the crowd asked.

"They're just morning glories from the side of the road," someone else replied.

"Huh? Isn't this guy too shameless?"

The insults that were aimed at Jack began to increase in volume, but Bella couldn't hear any of it. She was completely stunned in place.

Her gaze had been pinned on Jack from the moment he appeared before her, saying those words while clutching the bouquet of morning glories in his hand. Her eyes had widened to the size of saucers as a flurry of complicated emotions swirled within them, the most dominant emotion being shock.

Jack stared at Bella steadily and didn't say a word. It was as if an entire conversation had passed between them despite how both of them hadn't uttered a single word. They felt like time had turned back, taking them back to a year ago when they had separated.

Jack felt like he was drowning in his memories when he recalled the painful and melancholic letter that she had left behind for him. Was it possible for them to travel through time, to go back to how things had been in the past?

Hugo whipped his head around, his anger exploding when he laid eyes on Jack, the fool who had ruined his romantic confession.

Which mental institution did this psycho escape from? Did the institution forget to lock up their doors that day? How dare Jack throw a wrench into his plans?

However, what broke Hugo's spirit the most was how Bella treated Jack.

"When did you arrive?"

Bella's voice quivered slightly as she questioned Jack, not caring about how the onlookers were gawking at her. They couldn't believe that she would answer Jack first instead of Hugo.

Although it was undeniable that Jack was handsome, the rest of him reeked of mediocrity as he stood there, still clutching the bouquet of morning glories in his hand.

"You don't have to lie to me," Bella said suddenly, turning her head away.

Her eyes were filled to brim with tears that eventually spilled over like a rain of pearls. It was hard to believe that Bella, who the other students treated as a divine and untouchable existence, would also shed tears over a man.

Furthermore, the man she was crying over looked quite silly as he clutched a bouquet of morning glories. If Jack didn't have his good looks, they really would have assumed that he was nothing but a fool that had crawled out of a random hole.

Bella's next words made the men who were present break down even more, with Hugo being one of those who were impacted the most.

"I always thought that… we would never get to see each other again. Do you even know how upset that made me?"

Not many were privy to the pain that Bella had carried around in her heart for the past year.
