The whole R7CKY situation had become just a blip on Matilda's radar by the time the weekend rolled around, and she found herself tagging along with Chloe for a job interview. As soon as they arrived, they were greeted by Eugene and Criss, the mixed-race brothers, waving at them excitedly. "Hey, you made it!"
Matilda couldn't help but smile. "I had a feeling I'd bump into you guys here."
"Well, it's the event of the season in the fashion world. We couldn't miss it," Eugene said with a sly grin, squinting his eyes. "Yvan's gonna be here too. Should show up any minute."
Matilda kept her cool, merely whispering, "Hmm."
"Look at you, all grown-up," Criss remarked, pulling Matilda into a hug with a chuckle. "Used to be, the mere mention of Yvan got you all fired up like he was your arch-nemesis. And now, here you are, cool as a cucumber. You're making us proud, kiddo."
Matilda offered a small smile. "People change."
It's like that one song says, to stand still at heart, to see you as you are, is to have no regrets.
Half an hour into Matilda's makeup trial, Yvan arrived, dressed to the nines in a suit, looking more dashing and a touch more rebellious than ever.
As he was about to mingle with a few partners in the lobby, a figure rushed toward him. She had the full package: ample curves, a face painted with bold makeup like a Hollywood starlet, and heels clicking rapidly on the floor as she lunged at Yvan.
Yvan's face went through a kaleidoscope of emotions in a flash, internally screaming, "Back off, witch!" But before he could get a word out, the woman had already crashed into his arms.
From a distance, Eugene and Criss exchanged looks and shook their heads in unison.
Yep, that's Yvan for you. Same old, same old.
Yvan shook his head. "I've forgotten."
As Donna made another move, Yvan prepared to bolt, only to catch Eugene and Criss in the distance, watching the drama unfold with mocking amusement.
Distracted, Yvan didn't notice Donna wrapping her arms around him from behind. "I heard you got married, so I stayed away. But you're divorced now, right? So we can hang out again!"
Yvan internally screamed, Who the hell are you?, desperately signaling Carl for help. Carl, however, just shook his head, his eyes saying, "You're on your own with this one."
Just as Yvan was about to lose it, Logan's voice cut through, tinged with surprise. "Carl, you're here too? You—what's going on here?"
