Twenty minutes later, Lance arrived at the hotel room where Yvan and the others were staying. As soon as the door swung open, he was hit with a wave of alcohol so strong it made him take a few steps back, holding his nose. "Holy smokes, what's going on here? Did you guys take a bath in a brewery?"
Yvan pointed at Declan, "He's past saving."
At that moment, Declan was practically in a semi-conscious state, causing Lance to frown deeply. "Watch it, or you'll end up with a bleeding ulcer."
"A bleeding ulcer? Big deal."
Declan, his eyes red, fingers clenched tightly, said through gritted teeth, "Even if I had cancer, Chloe wouldn't bat an eyelid!"
Keaton, completely misreading the room, decided to add fuel to the fire. "Why would Chloe care? Last I heard, she's got a new boyfriend."
Yvan and Lance simultaneously facepalmed. Oh no... Keaton, that was too harsh...
Keaton's words were like a bomb going off next to Declan's ear. Declan suddenly shot up, grabbed Keaton by the shirt, his eyes bloodshot, and roared, "When did you find out?!"
"You... you didn't just find out, did you?"
Keaton looked at Declan's shocked expression, slightly puzzled. "I thought you knew ages ago. Chloe and Godfrey have been an item for over six months. I saw them together half a year back."
Half a year ago, Chloe had already comfortably moved on with someone else!
So the freedom he gave her was just her license to let loose. He was tormented with longing while she easily and casually went off to be with someone else!
And Declan, he was kept in the dark the entire time.
"I only found out about this because Chloe was brought to my hospital afterwards. I asked about her condition. She had a knife wound in her abdomen, a long one. That scar, on such a pretty girl's belly, will probably stay with her for life."
Declan felt a pang of pain that seemed to convulse through his body. Chloe, always so concerned about her looks, now had to live with a long scar on her stomach. She must be feeling so vulnerable.
And yet, he was kept out of the loop, even missing the chance to be there for her when she needed him the most.
By the time Declan got to the Plum Resort incident, he was late. Chloe and Godfrey had already been whisked away in an ambulance to safety, leaving him oblivious to everything Chloe had gone through.
