A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 689

Is this for real? Can it truly be... Yvan's back?

Logan's mind was a whirlwind of chaos, every bit of information he had connecting in that instant. The oddities at Yvan's funeral, the state everyone was in when Yvan's body was brought back, and now, the enigmatic man he encountered in Australia.

It was Yvan... That man truly was his father, Yvan!

Logan's eyes widened as he hastily typed out his conclusion and sent it to his mentor, R7CKY.

Back home, R7CKY stared at his phone screen, dumbfounded, for what seemed like ages.

Snapping back to reality, he gasped for air, nearly collapsing onto Ventus, who was busy cleaning their prized rifles, "Holy shit!"

Ventus, in the midst of maintaining their beloved firearms, nearly jumped out of his skin when R7CKY suddenly pounced, forcing out a rare curse from him, "Are you freaking mad? Happy if the gun misfires and kills you, huh?"

R7CKY, unfazed by Ventus's barrage of curses, wiped his face and persisted, "Look, look! My apprentice says, nightmare is Yvan!"

"Oh." Ventus replied, as stoic as ever despite the earth-shattering news, "That means the genius who beat you years ago was Yvan."

"No..." Overwhelmed, R7CKY collapsed onto the sofa, muttering, "This means... the man who just breached my firewall... was Yvan..."

Ventus stopped cleaning his rifle, looking up in disbelief, "What did you say?"

Was Yvan truly still alive?

"Who else... could breach my firewall?" R7CKY frowned, "I've only ever lost to this man. I can't think of anyone else."

Ventus, abandoning his usual calm, rushed to another computer to assist his partner in crunching massive amounts of data. Since it was Yvan's doing, it was likely he'd have masked his real IP address!

Tracing his location wasn't going to be an easy task!

Meanwhile, in Australia, Matilda noticed Logan's distraction while they were out shopping.

"What's wrong?"

Matilda paused, turning to look at Logan. He was the one who wanted to explore more of the city, yet now he seemed lost in thought, clinging to his phone. This struck Matilda as odd, "You've been glued to your phone since a while ago. Did some breaking news come up?"

Logan's grip on his phone trembled, the possibility of Yvan being alive magnifying by the second. What was once a distant hope now seemed within reach...
