A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 688

Logan's heart ached for his mother, Matilda, who was trying so hard to smile through her tears. He stepped forward, wrapping his small arms around her in a hug, just like his father, Yvan, had once stood in front of Matilda, arms wide, ready to take any bullet for her.

It seemed like everything Yvan had left behind was now being picked up by Logan. There was a sense of destiny, a cycle that continued. It dawned on Matilda then, a truth that had quietly made its way to her, unnoticed until now—she was being protected by the very person she had always sought to protect.

"It's okay, Mom," Logan paused, "even without Yvan... I'm still here for you."

Yvan's only gift to the world was this little boy named Logan.

...

The next day, they opted for an early start. Their flight was scheduled for the afternoon, so they woke up early to spend some time wandering around Canberra with Logan.

R7CKY sent Logan a message.

"Someone tried to breach our firewall back home, but I blocked them.”

As Logan texted back while strolling down the pedestrian street, he couldn't help but smile.

“Of course, my mentor is the best!”

R7CKY, on the other end, was puffing on a cigarette, feeling quite proud.

“Absolutely, who else but me, the world's number one hacker mentor! There's no one better than me—Holy smokes!”

After sending that, R7CKY suddenly went silent, leaving Logan frowning. He had been thinking about picking up some souvenirs but suddenly lost interest. Perhaps their firewall was under attack again?

Stronger than me? R7CKY was about to dismiss the notion entirely, confident that no one could surpass him. But then, a name flashed through his mind.

NIGHTMARE.

The man known as the Nightmare.

R7CKY quickly typed out the name, “I've lost to this man once before but managed to win back my ground soon after. So, in terms of skills, we're pretty much on the same level... Now that you mention it, it just might be him.”

Logan glanced at the name, feeling a strange sense of familiarity... That name...

And then it hit him like a thunderclap—the tattoo on Matilda's back... It was... It was his father, Yvan!
