A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 662

She wasn't sure if the man in front of her was really Yvan. If it was him, then whose body was sent back that day? And why couldn't he remember anything about their past together?

Amnesia? Was it just amnesia, or was there something more sinister at play?

Adrian stared at the man before him, feeling as if he was seeing a ghost. Wasn't this the man who was supposed to have died six months ago? Or did this man simply share an uncanny resemblance with Yvan?

"Sir, please let go of my date, thank you." It took Adrian a long while to speak up. "You're... scaring my girlfriend."

He used the term "girlfriend."

Yvan's lips twitched slightly as he finally released Matilda's hand and then attempted to catch a glimpse of her face. But Matilda kept her head down, her expression unreadable.

"My apologies for offending you both."

Yvan then resumed his previously nonchalant demeanor, extending his hand towards Adrian in apology. "I wasn't considerate enough."

His ease of manner, resembling that of a playboy who flits from one flower to the next, able to extricate himself from any situation, was starkly different from the Yvan they knew. The Yvan of the past kept women at a distance, always unapproachable.

Tears welled up in Matilda's eyes as Adrian came to take her hand. "Let's go."

"Okay."

Her voice was soft, and Adrian seemed to be in low spirits too. Meeting someone in Australia who bore such a striking resemblance to Yvan would unnerve anyone.

Watching them walk away hand in hand, Yvan stood still, his black hair falling over his face, hiding his expression. The dark pupils of his eyes looked exceptionally somber through his hair.

"Your looks aren't working anymore." The silver-haired man covered his mouth, trying to hold back his laughter. "That lady seems pretty determined. Anyone else might have eloped with you by now, but she chose to go back to her boyfriend. Clearly, she's immune to your charms, no matter how handsome you are."

Yvan pinched the bridge of his nose, a habit of his. "Any ideas on how to win her over?"

"You want the girl to cheat with you?"

The man laughed as if he'd heard the best joke. "If she did leave with you, that'd show she's no good. But from what I've seen, she doesn't seem too keen on leaving with you."

Yvan fell silent, then looked towards the spot where Matilda had stood, a dangerous smirk forming on his lips. "We'll see... I haven't even asked for her name yet."

Inside, the man thought: Oh lord, this guy's really got it bad.
