A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 620

"Head to Plum Resort!"

The audacity of Chad, to make his move right under their noses! It seemed that Yvan's rescue of Hadrian and Orson had truly enraged this man, who was as ferocious as a wolf within the Jungle Union.

Carl, with keys in hand, swiftly walked out of the office with Yvan, Godfrey trailing behind. Without any prior arrangement, both men began making calls, rallying every ally they could muster.

"Hey, Mr. Layton? It's me, Yvan. We've run into an urgent situation and could really use your assistance. It's an emergency!"

"Dad, my girlfriend's been kidnapped and taken to Plum Resort. Can you round up some people to help?"

As they descended to the parking lot in the elevator and dashed outside, Yvan's phone was practically smoking from all the calls he was making. By the time they got into the car, Carl floored the accelerator and Yvan, speaking into his phone, bellowed, "I don't care if you're asleep, my woman and family are under threat!"

Adrian snapped awake on the other end, "What the hell! Matilda's in danger? I'm on my way!"

"Go protect Matilda—"

Yvan's palms were slick with sweat. Knowing Adrian was on his way, his voice softened slightly, "Just... be careful with everything I told you. And—one more thing, Adrian... There's something I need to tell you."

Adrian froze. It was rare to hear Yvan speak with such a tone. His voice was usually deep and cold, magnetic yet tinged with an inherent arrogance that felt oppressive.

But this time, Yvan sounded almost... pleading.

"If, I mean if, something happens."

Back at the Whitby City mansion, Logan sat with Matilda. She wanted to step out to look for Chloe but was held back by her son.

"Logan," Matilda was puzzled, "did you call Godfrey? What did they say?"

"Mom, I think something's wrong." Logan's intuition was sharp, and at that moment, he looked up at his mother, his eyes swirling with complex emotions, "I think something happened to Chloe!"

Remembering Yvan's advice not to leave the house, Logan sensed there was more to it...

Then, the doorbell rang. Logan, reaching it before Matilda, was shocked to see who was outside. Opening the door, Ricky and Ventus rushed in and quickly secured the door behind them—"Something's happened!"
