Yvan's question was met with Adrian's mocking chuckle. Arms crossed and eyes narrow, Adrian stared back at Yvan, "So what if Matilda is single now? What's stopping me from pursuing her?"
Yvan felt a wave of irritation crash through him at Adrian's retort, frowning deeply, "Don't act like I'm clueless about the cruise ship fiasco."
Adrian's expression froze momentarily before he lowered his voice, "And what about it?"
"Matilda didn't expose you, did she?"
Yvan locked eyes with the man before him, his voice low, "She was protecting your reputation."
Adrian scoffed, "That just shows she cares about me. Besides, I gave you a chance back then, didn't I? It was me who jumped in to save her first."
Yvan couldn't argue with that; it had been his oversight.
After a moment of silence, Yvan looked at Adrian again, "If you're really planning on taking Lynn in, have you thought about the kind of life you're going to give her?"
Adrian remained quiet, his voice hoarse after a pause, "I don't know, I really don't."
If Lynn truly was his and Rachel's child, he wasn't sure if he could open his heart to her. Despite the child's innocence, the thought of her carrying half of Rachel's genes sent shivers down his spine.
Adrian couldn't imagine what kind of face to show Lynn in the future.
Knowing the turmoil within Adrian, Yvan stood up, "Well, in that case, I'll be going."
Upon returning home, Yvan immediately sent out his men to uncover the real reason behind the bitter fallout between the Seven Deadly Sins and Wind Deity years ago. Soon after, Carl entered his private villa, carrying a bowl of soup, "The lady asked me to bring this to you."
It was Violet who had made the soup for her son.
Yvan pinched the bridge of his nose, "Thanks."
"It's my duty, sir." As Carl was about to leave, Yvan stopped him, "Actually, can you look into why Adrian was imprisoned five years ago?"
Even back then, Adrian was a well-known figure of high status. For someone of his stature to end up in prison, it must have involved someone with equally, if not more significant, influence. The fact that Adrian served only five years for a fatal accident seemed lenient, possibly due to his prominence.
Yvan's eyes narrowed slightly, surprised at the depth of trouble Rachel was involved in five years ago...
