Yvan's words struck like a lightning bolt, leaving not only Opal and Rachel stunned but also shocking Matilda and the rest of the group.
"What? What did Yvan just say?"
"Banish them from Whitby City, never to return in this lifetime?"
"This... this attitude, this tone!"
Chloe turned to Matilda, incredulous, “Did... Did I hear that right? Has Yvan completely changed?”
Everyone stared at Matilda, disbelief etched on their faces. Opal, with a voice filled with sorrow, said, “Yvan, is this how you treat your grandmother? Do you have no respect for her?”
Yvan let out a cold laugh, “Before you question me, maybe you should take a look at what you’ve been up to! The world doesn’t revolve around you, Grandma. I’m a living, breathing person with my own life and world, not something you can control whenever you wish!”
Opal stepped back, her face a mix of fear and confusion. What was Yvan implying? Was he really ready to cut ties with the Boyd family? Impossible! Matilda... what power does she hold...
Yvan called his servants with an icy tone, “Grandma is getting old; she needs peace and quiet. Take her to the Plum Resort, and without my say-so, no one lets her out!”
At best, this sounded like ensuring his grandmother could enjoy her golden years in peace. At worst, it was akin to sentencing her to die in isolation—a form of house arrest in disguise. Anyone who dared to let Opal out would essentially be declaring war on Yvan!
Opal's face was a picture of shock and heartbreak, “Yvan, you want to lock your grandmother away?”
“Take them away now!” Yvan barked, “Take Grandma straight to the Red Maple Manor, and Rachel with her!”
So, Rachel was to be confined as well?
Rachel's face filled with terror, “No... Yvan! Please, don’t do this! I was wrong, I shouldn’t have gone to Ms. Thompson, please don’t lock me up…”
Yvan didn’t even spare her a glance, instead, he walked over and crouched down in front of Logan, looking directly into Logan’s clear eyes, “Did they lay a hand on you?”
Logan shook his head, “No.”
