A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 518

She decided to come clean to her son.

Logan blinked in surprise, "Mr. Boyd came over?"

His first thought was also about why Yvan would travel all the way here.

"He said he came to check on us."

Matilda turned away from the window, her gaze shifting. "But honestly, I don't quite get it. Why did he suddenly feel the need to visit?"

Logan glanced towards the coffee in Matilda's hand. "He bought you coffee?"

Matilda took a sip. "Want a taste?"

Logan made a face. "You're pretty chill about it, huh?"

"I'm the one living my life, as long as I'm comfortable, that's all that matters."

Matilda bent down to look Logan in the eye. "Logan, if Mommy ever did something you couldn't forgive, would you still forgive me?"

Logan furrowed his brows. "Why bring that up all of a sudden?"

Matilda just smiled. "No reason, just talking. Come on, let's go to the living room. We can go have a snowball fight in a bit."

With that, she stood up before Logan, heading out the door. Logan, after ensuring Matilda had left, sneakily peered through a corner of the curtain and saw Yvan leaning against his car, smoking.

The man's gaze was indifferent, his face half-turned away, leaning against his car as if he'd never clung to anything in his life.

The snowflakes fell around him in a silent dance. Logan watched him for a few seconds before letting the curtain fall back into place.

...

An hour later, Logan couldn't hold back any longer. He zipped up his parka and said to Godfrey, "Let's go have a snowball fight!"

Downstairs, Logan and Godfrey joined a crowd of neighbors already enjoying the snow. When they saw Logan, a little girl threw a snowball straight at him.

It was Logan's first real encounter with so much snow, and he was all smiles, not minding getting hit at all. Godfrey lifted him up, letting Logan ride on his shoulders as they plunged into the crowd, exchanging snowballs and laughter. Matilda watched from above, almost ready to burst into laughter herself.

"Watch out, Chef Godfrey! Sneak attack from next door!"

"Time to fight back!"

But as Matilda noticed the car still parked in the corner, Yvan stepped out. Just then, without any warning, Godfrey scooped up a handful of snow and launched it directly at Yvan's face.

Yvan looked up just in time to get hit squarely in the face with the snowball.

Matilda watched from above, barely containing her laughter.

Yvan, having spent countless childhood winters in snowball fights with friends, had never before been hit so directly in the face!
