A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 512

Listening to her use the term "boss" felt like a slap in the face to Carl, and he furrowed his brow in irritation. "Please, mind your manners. Mr. Boyd deserves his privacy, and it's not my place to intrude."

"I don't care!"

Willow was practically climbing up Carl's shirt, desperate for answers. "You have to tell me where my brother went!"

Carl thought to himself, how the hell would I know? Even the patience of a saint would wear thin with this woman's unreasonable demands!

Just then, Yvan came back for a forgotten document and found Willow clinging to Carl, both embroiled in their tussle. "Carl?" Yvan called out, somewhat stunned.

Carl swore, this was the first time he was actually glad to see Yvan return. Thank God you're back, otherwise how would I explain this mess?

Pushing Willow forward slightly, Carl explained, "Mr. Boyd, Ms. Simpson here... she says she can't find her brother and came looking for you. She also mentioned you had asked her brother to run an errand for you."

Hearing Carl's explanation, Yvan looked up at Willow. "Adrian hasn't come home?"

Seeing Yvan, the man she once had deep feelings for, Willow felt something was different about him now.

His gaze was inscrutable, and she dared not try to understand it.

After a moment, Willow spoke up, "My brother told me he'd be back before dinner. The whole family's in town today, grandparents and all. It's a rare family gathering, and we were all waiting for him. He said he was helping you out, which is why I came looking for you."

With all the recent rumors swirling around Yvan, she felt somewhat embarrassed to approach him.

Upon hearing Willow's words, Yvan frowned slightly. "I had asked Adrian to deliver some gifts to Matilda. Did he not come home after that?"

He knew that kid was up to no good, offering to deliver the gifts probably with the ulterior motive of staying over at Matilda's place for dinner!

That was the most defeating feeling of all.

Watching Yvan walk away, Willow didn't call after him this time. Later, as Yvan was driving back, he called Adrian. As soon as Adrian picked up, Yvan spoke in a low tone, "Did you go there to mooch a meal?"

He had only meant for Adrian to deliver a gift, yet Adrian took the opportunity to shamelessly join Matilda for dinner!

Adrian, sounding pleased with himself, burped, "My sister went looking for you, didn't she? Tell her not to worry, I'm heading back as fast as I can."

Yvan ground his teeth in frustration.

Adrian laughed heartily, "I just had dinner with Matilda! Tough luck for you, man!"
