A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 492

Matilda rolled her eyes, "Why bring up Yvan out of the blue?"

"Because it's delightful!" Criss was grinning ear to ear. "Let that jerk regret losing you. The better you do, the more he'll kick himself. We'll show him that he's burned his bridges and is doomed to be lonely forever!"

"That's quite the curse," Matilda laughed. "So much for foreigners being all polite and gentlemanly."

"Please." Criss dismissed the idea with a wave of his hand. "I wouldn't waste my manners on the likes of Yvan Mason."

"Sure, sure, all men are trash except for you, the golden boy."

Matilda wrapped an arm around Criss's shoulder, cheerfully nudging him on, "Come on, your friends are getting anxious."

Criss gave her nose a playful squeeze, "Babe, you might just meet someone who'll surprise you."

Matilda blinked in anticipation, "Alright, Mr. Mystery, I'm looking forward to it."

Twenty minutes later, they arrived at a karaoke bar. As soon as they entered, someone burst out to greet them, and Matilda did a double-take, "Mr. Eugene?"

"Hey, sweetheart, did I scare you?"

Eugene moved to stand next to Criss, and Matilda stared at them for a moment before covering her mouth in surprise, "Oh my God! You guys are brothers!"

"Yeah," Eugene poked Criss's chest, "this annoying little brother of mine has been telling me to take good care of you."

Matilda was thrilled, "Why didn't you ever tell me?"

Everyone was so generous and welcoming, offering Matilda soft drinks as they toasted, their laughter more intoxicating than the drinks themselves, captivating everyone in the room.

"Criss, how did you meet Dawn?"

Eugene looked at Criss with pride, like a parent bragging about their kid, teasingly nudging him, "She seems like she's warm on the outside but cool on the inside, always proper and polite, but distant. It doesn't look easy to become her friend. How did you do it?"

Criss smirked, holding a beer, and whispered conspiratorially, "Because I'm handsome, obviously. Jealous?"

Eugene cringed at Criss's flirty tone, "Oh, please. Direct your attention to some other guy. I'm not buying what you're selling."

"Damn, rejected," Criss laughed even harder. "It's because I saved her. When Matilda was blacklisted by Yvan, her career hit rock bottom. I saw potential in her work."
