A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 379

As soon as Yvan stood up, he made a beeline for the carousel, leaving Logan, who after one spin already wanted another go, a few horses behind. Yvan found himself in a chariot on the ground, circling round and round in pursuit.

A bystander exclaimed, "Did you see that? Two grown men riding the carousel!"

Another chimed in, "Wow! The one with the stoic face is drop-dead gorgeous! His profile is just… explosive!"

A third added, "Seems like all the handsome guys are hanging out with other handsome guys these days…"

Yvan and Carl just exchanged a glance, speechless.

Matilda had this nagging feeling something was off all day but couldn't put her finger on it. She often looked back, reassuring herself it was just a false alarm when she didn't spot anyone following her. Yet, she couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched, unsure whether it was for good or bad.

Logan, eager for a thrill, dragged Matilda towards the haunted house, despite her protests. "My mom hasn't fully recovered; maybe we should skip it…"

"What does your mom's recovery have to do with a haunted house?" Logan teased with a sly grin, "You're just scared."

Yvan's view of Matilda and Logan was suddenly blocked by a bouncing Donald Duck mascot. With a click of his tongue in annoyance, the mascot removed its headpiece, revealing a sweaty face underneath. Holding a bunch of balloons, the person gasped, "Mr. Boyd, I'm exhausted. Can someone take over for me?"

Yvan was taken aback, realizing their own staff had infiltrated the park workers. He then glanced towards Matilda with narrowed eyes and demanded, "Give me the costume."

"Huh?" The staff member was confused, not understanding why Yvan would want to swap clothes, asking, "Mr. Boyd, you want to wear it yourself?"

A chill passed through Yvan's eyes as he repeated, more firmly, "Quit talking and hand it over."
