In the car, Felix pinched Mabel’s chin, his thin lips curling into a smile. “You said you love me, can you also be like Natalie, not leaving me even if I hurt you?”
This smile, in Mabel’s eyes, was more terrifying than the Grim Reaper, she couldn’t deny.
Not to mention she didn’t want to deny it.
Not only had she suffered outside, she truly understood Felix’s kindness. In addition, the Jef- ferson family lost the Harrison family, a big support. Her father would not let her off the hook first.
She had put in a lot of effort to drive Natalie away, determined not to fail at this final mo-ment.
He nodded vigorously and said, “Yes, I love you more than Natalie.”
Felix, I was deceived back then, that’s why I left you. During the most difficult years for you, it’s not that I didn’t want to come back, I just couldn’t come back… That person locked me in a room and would often hit me…”
She spoke with sobs, crying pitifully and helplessly.
“Felix, can we stop fighting? I can apologize to Natalie, make amends, or whatever you want me to do, I promise I can do it. Can you forgive me?”
She gently shook Felix’s large hand with both of hers and leaned into his embrace.
In the past, whenever she made such a gesture, Felix would agree to anything she asked.
But this time, Felix pushed her away, took out the letter of understanding and divorce agree- ment and placed them in front of her: “Since it’s like this, sign these first and let me see your sincerity.”
She made up her mind and signed her name with a stamp on top.
Turning her head, she realized that the car was getting more and more remote, already out of the urban area. She forced a smile and asked, “Where are we going?”
Felix handed the folder to his assistant in the front passenger seat, chuckled, and told the driver to stop the car. “You can get out now,” he said.
No matter how much Mabel begged, he ignored her and waved for his assistant to drag her out of the car.
Mabel watched helplessly as the car drove away, with no phone and no money. She didn’t know what to do when suddenly a van pulled up beside her. A man jumped out and dragged her inside.
She looked at the two familiar faces and angrily said, “Last time I gave you enough money to leave Washington after kidnapping and setting fire. Why didn’t you leave? Now you’ve been caught and it’s causing trouble for me.”
“I didn’t come looking for you to settle the score, yet you dare to come to me. You don’t even understand the rules of the street. You filmed the process as evidence of guilt, you fools! You caused me so much misery, I won’t let you off.”
“Hey! Where are you taking me? Are you saying the money is not enough or something?”
Those two people didn’t speak at all.
She was not dragged out of the car until it stopped at the construction site.
Mabel was dumbfounded.
On the large open space on the second floor, many large oil drums containing gasoline and firewood were arranged in a circle, with a chair placed in the middle.
