Manfred felt a bit helpless. "There's no female ghost."
Hearing Manfred's firm response, Glen still didn't believe him, remaining suspicious.
"No female ghost? Then why have you been talking to yourself for no reason these past two days? And why have you been doing things that seem utterly baffling?
"Manfred, you've finally become the head of the Atkinson family after so much hardship. The dark days are behind you, but you must not stray from the right path moving forward, understand?" Glen implored earnestly.
There was no one else he was worried about, but his heart was entirely preoccupied with concern for this grandson.
Manfred replied calmly, "I understand, Grandpa."
Seeing Manfred's tight-lipped demeanor, Glen realized that no matter what he said, Manfred wouldn't confess the truth.
He let out a long sigh.
"When I was your age, I wouldn't listen to my elders either. But there are some things I have to say. You mustn't be blinded by appearances. Even if there isn't a female ghost around you, I know there must be something that defies explanation.
"I'm not afraid of you losing your way—I'm afraid that you'll end up physically harmed or emotionally devastated because you've been deceived," Glen said with deep concern.
He had waited here all this time just to say these to Manfred.
His grandson might be young, but he had a strong will. Otherwise, he wouldn't have endured everything he had over the years.
After learning about Manfred's experiences during those dark years, Glen often wondered if he could have withstood them in Manfred's place.
Take Zea and Cyril as examples—after just two years of confinement, they had already gone mad, their pride seemingly broken beyond repair.
Manfred wasn't fond of explaining himself to others, but this was his grandfather, and Glen's words had involved Vivian.
Even though it was his own relative, he didn't like hearing Vivian described in ways that implied harm or malice.
After some thought, Manfred said, "She won't harm me. Don't worry, Grandpa. When the opportunity arises, I'll let you meet her."
Glen's eyes widened in astonishment. Now he understood.
There really was something—or someone—by Manfred's side that others couldn't see! But there was a chance for him to meet it?
